“Good,” Thomas breathed a sigh of relief, walking with Ziggy toward the dirt path and holding onto him tightly because he was just as nervous, “we’ll be alright. We just have to make it out of here, once we’re on our way, we can finally relax and know that we’re perfectly safe.”

He did not want to make Ziggy panic by telling him that their space ship would be quickly detected, it was a crude little thing but it’d get them to where they needed to go. The only thing that could go wrong was if the Humans decided to shoot them out of the sky, Thomas did not know if this craft would be fast enough to escape the planet before they had time to intercept so really this was a make or break decision.

Wherever they were supposed to be going, Ziggy firmly trusted that Thomas would be able to get them there safely. His own plans were to find a decent surgeon once they were settled in, the top priority would be to ensure that Thomas could see their new life together on the planet they were going to be living on soon.

“I hope so,” Ziggy nodded, “not much farther now, Thomas. Just tell me what to do and I’ll get us out of here.”

Thomas nodded.

“At the top of this path there should be a hidden cave entrance,” he explained quietly, “at the back of the cave there is a console. You can use it to reveal the ship, open the cave ceiling and prepare for the launch.”

He was excited to finally be leaving this horrible world, Thomas clung tighter to Ziggy’s arm and looked determined, soon they would be out of here for good.

Thomas could feel the vehicle coming to a complete halt and he felt afraid, was Billy going to turn against him now as well? It seemed like every time he trusted somebody, that happened and for a long time Thomas had not allowed himself to trust anyone. Was he about to regret finally opening up to somebody after so long?

“Live with you?” Thomas spoke gently, confused as to why Billy thought this might be a good idea, he shook his head, “but they’re after me. They’ll come for you too.”

He didn’t want to put Billy’s life in danger.

Thomas nodded, he was so rich that he could just buy whatever took his fancy and spare no expense in getting it. He had grown more fond of the music and more curious about her band over time, eventually requesting that he meet with her and he wasn’t disappointed because she looked exactly the way he had thought she might.

“Yes, that’s me,” Thomas had a very soft and gentle voice, even when he was shouting and angry it was quiet and not intimidating in the very least, “it’s a pleasure to meet you, Mel.”

Normally he would refuse to shake her hand, it wasn’t because he was rude or anything but his skin wasn’t quite the correct texture to be human. He didn’t know this until he had felt an actual human’s skin and compared it to his own, as the flesh was made to look realistic but they only went by satellite images from old TV broadcasts so they had no idea what it was supposed to actually feel like.

So it was with a hard swallow that Thomas reached out and accepted her handshake, his hollow bones making it very easy for her to crush his fingers if she gave them a hearty enough squeeze in excitement. But even as their hands met in touch, Thomas was startled by something he could not quite explain.
